Hiking·Spontaneous·Together
Henrietta connects you with people who want to hike in your area today – matched by timing, route and SAC level. And helps make sure everyone gets back safely.
In three steps
No endless feed and no complicated group planning. Find a hike that fits, send a request and sort out the rest in the chat.
Filter by distance, day and SAC level – or post your own hike. Nothing there? Tour alerts let you know as soon as something fits.
Tap “Join” and add a few words. The host sees your profile and level and accepts.
Once accepted, the chat opens. Agree on the meeting point, set off together – and afterwards quickly confirm that everyone is back safely.
Level matching
The SAC hiking scale is the shared language. A short quiz with illustrated scenes places you, and people who hiked with you can confirm your level. If a hike is well above your level, Henrietta tells you up front. The decision is yours.
T1Easy
Well-made paths, flat or gently rising.
T2Moderate
Continuous trails, steep in places. Sure-footedness helps.
T3Challenging
Exposed sections, now and then you need your hands.
T4Hard
Partly pathless. Head for heights and alpine experience.
T5Very hard
Easy climbing passages, helmet recommended.
T6Expert
Climbing up to grade II, for the very experienced only.
Built for the outdoors
Henrietta is not a fitness tracker or a social network. Everything in the app serves one question: Who are you hiking with today – and will you all get back down safely?
“Join” sends a request, ideally with a few words. The host sees your profile and level and accepts – only then does the chat open. “Your requests” always shows where things stand.
Nothing nearby today? Get notified as soon as a matching hike appears in your area. At most once a day, and only if you want it.
Henrietta checks exactly the hours you’re out: thunderstorms, gusts and snow line. It’s based on GeoSphere Austria’s 1 km forecast model.
What will you walk on? Every route shows how much is road, forest road, trail, mountain path or alpine terrain – derived from OpenStreetMap.
Route options, elevation gain and walking time according to DIN 33466. Plus fountains, huts, bivouacs and – if you come by car – parking near the start. Your own GPX files work too.
If the host moves the time or meeting point, it appears in every chat for the hike automatically. You get a reminder 30 minutes before the start, and you choose which push notifications you receive.
“It’s not just about where you go – but who you go with.”
The Henrietta principle
No follower counts and no endless scrolling. You see people who genuinely want to head out – at your level, near you and at a specific time.
Safety
No app replaces experience, a weather check and the right gear. But Henrietta helps you look out for each other: before, during and after the hike.
After the hike, everyone briefly confirms: “Yes, all good!” If someone hasn’t checked in, the others find out.
One tap dials 112. Henrietta prepares a text with your location for your emergency contact and alerts the group in the chat.
You see profile, level, reviews from shared hikes and the self-declaration before you accept. You can report or block at any time.
Thunderstorms, gusts and snow line during your hike. Basic safety doesn’t belong behind a paywall.
The SOS feature supports the 112 emergency number but doesn’t replace it – nor does it replace suitable equipment and responsible route planning. The self-declaration is not an ID check.
Roadmap
We build step by step and test where it has to work: outdoors, on real hikes.
Now
Requests & chat, tour alerts, mountain weather check, safe return and SOS are running on the first devices.
Next
The iOS version is technically ready, including Sign in with Apple and push notifications. TestFlight comes first, then the App Store.
Then
Optional extras for people who hike a lot. Finding hikes, matching and basic safety stay free.
Later
Part of the roadmap stays between us and the duck for now.
Frequently asked
For anyone who enjoys hiking and wants suitable company – from cautious beginners to experienced alpine hikers. Level matching ranges from T1 to T6.
Tap “Join” on a hike and optionally add a few words. The host sees your profile and level and accepts or declines. Only once you’re accepted does the shared chat open, where you agree on the meeting point. If anything about the hike changes, everyone is notified automatically.
Before you accept, you see profile, level, reviews from previous hikes and whether someone has completed the self-declaration. There is no ID check yet. On the trail, SOS and the safe-return check help, and you can report or block at any time.
The beta is free. Finding hikes, matching and chat stay free, and basic safety such as SOS, emergency contacts and weather warnings will never be behind a paywall. Henrietta+ is an optional subscription for extras that you can try for free during the beta.
The app uses your location to show hikes near you and doesn’t store it for that. Only if you turn on tour alerts is it saved, rounded to about 1 km. Turn the alert off and it’s deleted.
Not yet. The iOS version is technically ready, and a TestFlight beta comes next. Write to us if you’d like to join.
Henrietta shows route data, path types and mountain weather hints and helps the group coordinate. Participants remain responsible for planning, conditions, equipment and carrying out the hike.
